Before you start

  • A Bluetooth mouse or keyboard with charged batteries
  • A PC or Mac with Bluetooth

Method 1 Pair on Windows 11 or 10

With Swift Pair, Windows shows a pop-up as soon as a compatible device enters pairing mode; just click Connect.

  1. Step 1: Put it in pairing mode

Turn the device on. Press and hold its Connect, Bluetooth or Easy-Switch button for 3–5 seconds until the light blinks quickly.

  2. Step 2: Add the device

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices, turn on Bluetooth, click Add device > Bluetooth.

  3. Step 3: Select it

Click the device name when it appears. Keyboards may show a PIN: type it on the keyboard and press Enter.

Method 2 Pair on a Mac

Apple Magic Mouse and Keyboard pair automatically when connected to the Mac with their USB-C/Lightning cable.

  1. Step 1: Open Bluetooth settings

Go to Apple menu > System Settings > Bluetooth.

  2. Step 2: Connect

Put the device in pairing mode, then click Connect next to it in the list.

Method 3 Using a USB receiver instead

A receiver is often more reliable than Bluetooth for gaming or in crowded wireless environments.

  1. Step 1: Plug in the receiver

Many mice and keyboards (Logitech, Microsoft, HP) come with a tiny USB dongle, often stored inside the battery compartment. Plug it in and turn the device on.

  2. Step 2: Pair a lost receiver

Logitech devices can be re-paired with the Logi Options+ or Logi Bolt/Unifying software.

Troubleshooting

The device doesn’t appear

Replace or charge the batteries, hold the pairing button longer, and make sure it isn’t still connected to another computer or tablet nearby.

The mouse lags or stutters

Move it closer, avoid USB 3 ports and hubs right next to the Bluetooth adapter, and turn off Bluetooth power saving in Device Manager.

The keyboard doesn’t work at the login screen

Bluetooth devices may connect only after login. Use a USB-receiver keyboard if you need BIOS or BitLocker PIN access.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need drivers?

No for basic use. Install the maker’s app (e.g. Logi Options+) for extra buttons and settings.

How do I check the battery level?

In Settings > Bluetooth & devices, many devices show their battery percentage under their name.

Summary

Hold the device’s pairing button, then use Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device on Windows or System Settings > Bluetooth on a Mac. If it came with a USB receiver, just plug that in.
