Method 1 Before you delete

Step 1: Delete posts and comments you want gone
Deleting your account doesn’t remove what you posted. Open your profile, and on each post or comment tap the three dots > Delete.

Step 2: Request your data (optional)
Reddit lets you request a copy of your data, including posts, comments and messages, from its data request page. It arrives by email within about 30 days.

Step 3: Set a password if you use Google or Apple sign-in
Reddit asks for a password to confirm. If you don’t have one, set it first in Settings > Account.
Method 2 Delete your account on the web

Step 1: Open Settings
Sign in at reddit.com, click your avatar at the top right and choose Settings.

Step 2: Find Delete account
On the Account tab, scroll to the bottom and click Delete account.

Step 3: Confirm
Enter your username and password, tick the box confirming deleted accounts can’t be recovered, and click Delete.
Method 3 Delete your account in the app

Step 1: Open Settings
Tap your avatar, then Settings.

Step 2: Go to account settings
Tap Account settings (on some versions, tap your username first) and scroll to Delete account.

Step 3: Confirm
Enter your username and password, then confirm.
Troubleshooting
I don’t see Delete account in the app
Update the app, or use reddit.com in your phone’s browser, which always has the option under Settings > Account.
It asks for a password I never set
Your account uses Google or Apple sign-in. Set a password in Settings > Account, or use Forgot password on the login page.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to my posts after deleting?
They stay on Reddit but show [deleted] as the author. Delete them first if you want them removed.
How long does deletion take?
Your account and profile are removed right away.
