How to Make Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cookies are the perfect treat anytime, but if you want to show somebody that they're extra special, homemade is the way to go.

Steps

  1. Gather ingredients(shown below)
  2. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
  3. Melt the butter in a small pan
  4. Sift the flour, salt, and baking soda into a bowl
  5. Pour the butter in a mixing bowl and cream with the white and brown sugars. (to cream you mix until you have a smooth thick-ish liquid)
  6. Add the egg, yolk, milk and vanilla to the creamed sugar and mix.
  7. Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, beating constantly.
  8. Mix in the chocolate chips.
  9. Chill the dough in the fridge for at least 15-20 minutes
  10. Spoon onto cookie trays (its good to line the trays with parchment paper so after one batch is cooked you can just slikde off the cookies and put on more dough)
  11. Bake for 12 to 13 minutes.


Tips

  • Use an electric mixer. If you don't, your arm will be really, really tired.
  • If you have them, use the dough hook attachments for your mixer. The cookie dough will not stick as badly on the hooks.


Warnings

  • Don't be an idiot. Use oven mitts or a towel when removing a tray from the oven.


Things You'll Need

  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 2 1/4 cups bread flour (all purpose works too)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tblsp. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Chocolate chips (it's really your choice how many you use)
  • Cookie trays
  • Parchment paper (optional)
