Scones are a traditional cooked dish that are simple and easy to make; and can be delicious once made. You only really need self-rising flour, milk, margarine and flavouring.
Steps
- Pour flour into a mixing bowl.
- Add margarine to the flour and mix thoroughly until the margarine is in small pieces; it seems to take on a crumb-like texture.
- Add flavouring of your choice.
- Pour in milk and stir the mixture thoroughly together. It is best to progressively add the milk, rather than pouring it all in at once; slowly pour it in whilst stirring the mixture together.
- Once the dough has been formed, mould it into shapes of your choice (you can use a cookie cutter if you want) and place them onto a baking tray.
- Put them in the oven on low heat until they rise.
- Place them on a cooling rack to cool.
- Sprinkle on a little bit of icing sugar and enjoy!
Tips
- Chocolate chip scones are very nice to take to school for break.
Warnings
- Ask your mom whether you should be accompanied by an adult when using the oven.
