How to Dress Skate Punk (Boys)
This guide will tell you how to act... and dress skate punk. Skatepunks are often quite popular, and if you follow this complete guide correctly you could be come the best sk83R out there...
Steps
- To begin you need to do some research. Also you want to make sure this is the person you want to be. Make sure you research on things like: skate board brands, popular skaters (not just Tony Hawk).
- After you're done researching, look for a local skateshop near you. Avoid sports shops cause they sell horrible unpunk gear. If you live in America go with: Pacsun or Hot Topic. If you live In Canada go with: West49.
- Next, you'll want to buy starter skate gear. A board is good enough. You don't need expensive stuff yet. You'll also want some helmet and shin/elbow pads. Don't worry about looking weak or inexperienced. If you absolutely hate wearing pads and you are afraid a chicks gonna see you, just practice in your yard or roads near your home.
- Next you'll want to look like you're a sk83r. Here is a run down...
- Pants: The best pants out there are Dickies. Dickies are so freaking punk, its not even funny. These are 100% mandatory. They look awesome and they're sturdy and light. Perfect for skating. If you don't want to wear Dickies all the time find some Dickie brand jeans at www.interpunk.com .
- Shirts: You should probably get most of your shirts at your favourite skate shop. You're looking for: Band shirts such as: Ac/Dc, Ozzy, Sum41, NOFX, Billy Talent. It doesnt really matter what band it is. They can be old or new. Also wear skate shirts. They'll advertise: Element, Hookups and too many to name. World industries are cool now. And as long as you're a skater punk Polos are ok too. JUST MAKE SURE THE POLO COLORS aren't too bright.
- Hats: Not really necessary. Its optional for sk83rs... You can pick up a lot of cool hats at Hot Topic, West49... But they're usually expensive.
- Shoes: this is a no-brainer.... You MUST wear skate shoes. Not only do they look really punk but they also improve your skating performance. Just make sure they're not too cheap. Oh and they can't be plastic either because they'll just fall apart. Combat boots are ok too.
- Belt: Wear a studded belt.
- Socks: Ankle socks are best. The lower the better.
- Anything else?: Necklaces are pretty stupid cause they distract from a really cool band t-shirt and make Polos look bad. Try throwing in a cool rocker watch. Those are awesome too.
- YIKES WHERE DO I FIND THIS STUFF?: Not too hard to find this stuff. You can find all this stuff at: Bluenotes, Pacsun, West49, Hot topic, Sears, Walmart etc.
- So now you look sk83r its time to act sk83r. The thing here is this: Don't change your personality much. Don't change yourself. There's only a couple of traits a skater should have:
- Skaters are independent.
- Skaters have no fear. They're willing to do anything at any time, if you have a major fear of something do your best to avoid the situation.
- Skaters have a variety of friends: geeks, popular kids, emos, goths, other skaters, metalheads etc.
- They are humble.
- So you're probably wondering how do I start skating? Well The first thing you want to do is to learn how to: Kickoff with your skateboard, Gain speed, Ollie , Manual, and so on. onlinehow has a great guide on Ollying.
